The CreatorA passion for food and a relentless determination to see ideas reach fruition has made Albasio La Pegna a driving force on Perth’s restaurant scene. Arriving in Perth from Naples in 1981, Albasio began working in some of Perth’s top restaurants until venturing out on his own in 1991 and opening Bellissimo in Claremont. Albasio then opened Pronto, also in Claremont, Funtastico in Subiaco, and Zafferano Restaurant at the ‘Old Swan’, before returning to Subiaco to open Rialtos. The RestaurantRialtos reflects the multicultural food of his hometown of Naples, taking you away from your world and entering into a real Mediterranean experience, with flavours ranging from Southern Italian to French to Arabic to Spanish. And like all great Mediterranean dinners, it’s informal, relaxing and everybody shares everything. With grand plans to create a Mediterranean banquet for the Summer Dinner, Albasio has much praise for the Dine for Life team, exclaiming, “It’s a good cause, helping those less fortunate.” |
