As anyone who’s visited Italy knows, there’s no better way to dissolve the stress of the day than with an aperitivo – the early evening drink accompanied by tapas-style finger food. It’s just enough to take the edge off of the haven’t-eaten-since-noon rumbling in the stomach, but not too much to spoil your dinner.
Perth restaurateur Stephen Scaffidi understands the brilliance of aperitivo. So much, in fact, that he’s brought the tradition to his Perth CBD restaurant Bar One.
But Bar One does more than cater to the after-five crowd. The restaurant meets the morning commuters with coffee and brekky. Lunchtime, the busiest time at Bar One, attracts the city’s Italophiles looking for steaming plates of gnocchi and risotto followed by the beloved Chocolate Panna Cotta.
We at Dine for Life love Bar One’s contribution to Perth’s dining scene. But what we love even more is the fact that the restaurant has jumped on board the Summer Dinner, happening on 1 December.
Amy Clark, one of Bar One’s very own, says that the restaurant is looking forward to the event as much as we are. “Bar One is excited to be part of Dine for Life as it seems like an interesting, innovative format,” she says.
Clark gives us just a taste of what guests can look forward to on the night, saying, “Dine for Life diners can expect a relaxed informal atmosphere, great service and beautiful food, in a sophisticated inner-city environment. The Dine for Life menu will feature Bar One and Altos classics like prawn, scallop and Pernod risotto and chocolate pannacotta.”
Sounds like the perfect evening to look forward to while enjoying a late afternoon aperitivo.
